8 x 10 Atlanta

MudFire Gallery will host "8 x 10 Atlanta" - an exhibit illustrating the state of clay in Atlanta with eight works each by ten Atlanta clay artists. The show will run November 6 - 25, 2003. An opening party and artist reception will be held Thursday, November 6 from 6:00 to 10:00 pm.

About the Show

8 x 10 celebrates the diversity and quality of clay artwork being produced in Atlanta today. Great care was taken in selecting the artists to offer a broad review of the state of clay in Atlanta. The participating artists are: Carol Brull, Bill Buckner, Suzanne Clark, Sandy Culp, Jennifer D. Martin, Margaret Patterson, Deanna Ranlett, Stacy Stanhope, Tim Sullivan, and Ann Wallin.

The objects presented will include abstract sculpture with variegated and crystalline glazes; elegant vessels in the raku style; tromp l'oeil miniatures; figurative hand rattles; subtly-shaded organic blooming vases; functional pottery with shino and soda finishes; painstakingly decorated platters; porcelain with complex layered glazes; richly-textured eclectic teapot forms; and a series of writhing soda-fired pieces. Expect some surprises as well.
